At 7:30 o’clock this morning Mrs. Meredith Rountree fell asleep. She was born near Hamilton, Ohio in 1814 and came to this county in 1830 and has since lived here. She was the relict of the late Meredith Rountree whom she married in 1872. Her first husband was A.J. McClelland by whom she had four children, two of whom died in infancy, the others Mrs. N.E. Myers and Dun McClelland of this city. They were married in 1830. There were no children by the second marriage. Mr. Rountree died two years ago. Mr. McClelland died in 1861. Mrs. Rountree was a most estimable woman and always had a host of warm personal friends. She was a member of the Universalist church and her funeral will be conducted at the home of her daughter, where she died, by Rev. TE Ballard, at 2 o’clock on Wednesday. Mrs. Mary A. Rountree, aged 79 years, died Monday at 7:30 o'clock at the residence, of her daughter, Mrs. N. E Myers, on south Washington street. The funeral occurred Wednesday at 2 p. m., conducted by Rev. Ballard of the Universalist church. Interment at Oak Hill. Mrs. Rountree was the relict of the late Meredith Rountree and had been a resident of Crawfordsville for 41 years. She was born in Ohio but in her early youth came to this county with her parents and settled in Yountsville where she was married and resided until her removal here. She leaves two children, W. D. McClellan and Mrs. N. E. Myers. Mrs. Rountree was a most excellent lady and possessed of many graces which endeared her to all. Her loss is mourned by a wide circle of friends. - transcribed by Kim H
